ATA went bankrupt this morning for the second time in three years... The best of it, they closed all the operations without any announcement. In another words, people came in to the airports or to their offices found police blocking entrances or empty gates. some personal (pilots, stewardess) is around the world trying to figure out their ways home. my favorite part is compensations (greedy me). If tickets were purchased with credit cards, then cards would reimburse fines. For cash or check purchase - tough luck - no reimbursement is provided.

I don't think that they plan on coming back from this one.

Did they have international flights? In any case, pilots will get home easily, there are ways. Flight attendants are another story, but they will get comped seats and jobs very soon.

I have seen the demand for licensed and experienced airline crews, they will have problems with pensions, etc, but they don't stay unemployed for long periods of time. The routes will soon be filled and personnel will be needed.

i am certain you know what you're talking about. i do not like the tendency. motorola is looking for "leasing" partner... they might go bankrupt in july. at list, that is the perception for now. jobs, jobs, jobs. once i have something stable, i will not react that much to such things. or should i say "if". yaiks
